SQUIRT STATE CHAMPS!!!
Congratulations to the players, coaches and parents on the squirt 1 team for winning the Massachusetts State Hockey Championship this past weekend. Masco beat defending champion South Boston 8-1 in the final to claim Masco's first ever state title. Well done boys!
Masco advanced to the semi-finals by winning their division. Our squirts beat Nashoba (Westford/Littleton) 6-0 in the first game Friday night, Wakefield 2-0 in the second game Saturday morning, and tied Lynn 4-4 Saturday afternoon in their 3rd round robin game. In the semi-finals, Masco beat Medfield 6-0 Sunday morning to advance to Sunday afternoon's finale. The final game was a terrific effort by our team and a great example of how hard work, intensity, perseverance and team play can overcome any obstacle.
This is a tremendous accomplishment and one the entire program can take pride in. Hopefully this is the first of many State Championships for our program. While most town programs are floundering, MYH is flourishing and this feat is further evidence that we are heading in the right direction. We have a great program to offer to tri-town kids so please help us to spread the word.

BRUINS ALUMNI GAME AND THE MASCO CLASSIC
I hope everyone enjoyed the Bruins Alumni game and the Classic this year. They were fun events for players, coaches and parents alike.
Most have no idea how much time, effort and planning goes into this event so I want to recognize a few folks without whom this game and tournament would never have materialized.
Deb Bargman
Mike Caputo
Vic Castro
Frank Pasciuto
These are the heavy-lifters who gave up hours of their time to make both events a success and make our program shine. Let them know you appreciate their hard work if you get a chance.
VALLEY LEAGUE PLAYOFFS
The brackets have been posted and can be located on the Valley League
website (valleyhockeyleague.com). Good luck to all our teams! Last year we finished with seven medals and that was good enough for fourth place. That was a tremendous accomplishment and perhaps our best ever showing. However, we are looking to improve on that total this year. The program that finished in first place earned 12 medals. Teams must make it to the championship game in order to earn a medal.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
I want to thank Doug Whiffen for all that he does for our program. Besides running our developmental program and serving as registrar, Doug drove in a snow storm at 11:30 PM on a week night to Lawrence in order to submit the squirt 1's application for the state championships prior to the midnight deadline. That's dedication!
Enjoy the off-season.
Warm regards,
Linc Murphy
